Guidance and Counseling The goal of the Cedar Hill counseling program is to “Run the R.A.C.E.” which stands for “Raising Achievement through Character Education”. The counselors work with teachers, administrators and parents to help students develop the skills they need to enhance their educational, social, emotional, college and career development. One aspect of the mission of Cedar Hill is to develop model citizens. We are here to help that goal come to fruition and help every child succeed. Character Education The counseling program utilizes a comprehensive program that combines classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, responsive services, campus wide activities, parents’ activities and workshops. The areas covered in our guidance curriculum involve the following topics: self-confidence development, motivation to achieve, decision-making and problem solving, interpersonal effectiveness, communication skills, cross-cultural effectiveness and responsible behavior. Along with these topics, we also teach the following character traits: - Responsibility and Trustworthines
