Superintendent Search

On May 30 Midland ISD named Cedar Hill ISD Superintendent of Schools Orlando Riddick its new superintendent. Below is a timeline of events. CHISD will update this page with the latest information about the district’s search for a new superintendent.

 

Timeline

May 30 - Orlando Riddick accepts position in Midland

Midland ISD names Orlando Riddick as new superintendent.

 
June 12 - CHISD names interim superintendent
Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees announces Larry Watson, Ed.D., as interim superintendent. Watson retired from Crandall ISD as superintendent and was a former CHISD principal and administrator. Read his full biography here

Aug. 7 - Search firm RFP approved
Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees approves RFP for superintendent search firm. The deadline for response is Aug. 25.  
Information about public forums to discuss the superintendent search will be posted once meetings are scheduled.
 

Sept. 6 - CHISD Board Hires Executive Search Firm
The Cedar Hill ISD Board of Trustees selects Executive Search Services, a service of the Texas Association of School Boards, to find candidates for the superintendent position. The district will host community meetings to discuss the process and the characteristics and qualities of the new superintendent. Once meetings are scheduled, dates and times will be posted.  

 
Sept. 29 - Community Meeting Dates Posted
The CHISD Board of Trustees set community meeting dates to receive public comment on the qualifications of the new superintendent. Meetings to be held Oct. 2-4. Dates and times are posted on the district’s calendar.
 
Nov. 13 - Board Narrows Candidate List
The CHISD Board of Trustees narrow the candidate list to six and are in the second round of interviews. The process is on schedule; a new superintendent is expected to be hired in January 2018.
